What Nots

By Bernard Dozier

Those who believe in a God of Love can free themselves from negative experiences that have become burdensome states of mind.

Something we humans do, to our detriment, is identify with AND hold onto our negatively-charged experiences long after they served any purpose.

Here are some old, limited ways we look at ourselves ... I call them “What Nots” —false identifications that we’d be better off without. So, as I go through this list of eighteen things that we are NOT, consider divorcing yourself from any or all of them that you’ve believed you had to hang onto.

So, here’s all eighteen of them...

  1. I am not the sum of all my negative experiences.
  2. I am not my past.
  3. I am not my problems.
  4. I am not my hurts.
  5. I am not my disappointments.
  6. I am not my mistakes.
  7. I am not my grief.
  8. I am not my regret.
  9. I am not my sin.
  10. I am not my guilt.
  11. I am not my anger.
  12. I am not my resentment.
  13. I am not my fear.
  14. I am not my discouragement.
  15. I am not my bad choices.
  16. I am not my errors.
  17. I am not my selfishness.
  18. I am not my limitations.

The “What Nots” are undoubtedly the most common of all human ailments ...and are precursors of so many physical ills.

But Jesus had a prescription for the “What Nots.”

His prescription was the best antidote known to humanity... and He simply called it Forgiveness.

Forgiveness sets everyone—self and others--free from negatives and from the effects of negatives.

Spiritual beings know exactly what they are not...and say it firmly.

They also know what they ARE—the free and freedom-loving children of the Creator Himself.
