Metaphysical meaning of Beth-shean (mbd)
Beth-shean, beth-she'-an (Heb.)--house of rest; house of tranquillity; dwelling in quiet; house of security.

A city of Canaan that was allotted to Manasseh (Josh. 17:11). Later this town is named as being in one of the districts that supplied Solomon's household with provisions for one month in each year (I Kings 4:12); in I Samuel 31:10, 12, it is called Beth-shan.

Meta. A restful, peaceful, confident attitude of mind (house of rest, house of tranquillity, dwelling in quiet, house of security) . It is only in the quietness of our periods of conscious waiting on God that we find the inner sense of peace and security and conservation that builds up soul and body in enduring substance and life.
