Metaphysical meaning of Jehoiada (mbd)
Jehoiada, je-hoi'-a-då (Heb.)--whom Jehovah knows; whom Jah perceives; who knows Jehovah; who apprehends Jah, i. e., lays hold of; knowledge of Jah; understanding of Jehovah.
a A priest who was instrumental in establishing Jehoash, or Joash, on the throne of Judah, and in putting away much of the idolatry of the people (II Kings 11:4 to 12:9). b There are other Israelites by this name also (II Sam. 8:18; Jer. 29:26).
Meta. Appropriation of spiritual, or true, understanding, i. e., the individual mind's laying hold of or apprehending Truth, through I AM, Jehovah.
In II Kings 11 Jehoiada represents the divine law of justice, which brings to retribution all who transgress its law. He calls into action the forces that destroy error.
Jehoash, or Joash, king of Jerusalem was a good king and did that which was right in the sight of God, so long as Jehoiada lived to guide him; after Jehoiada's death he did evil. This shows the necessity of the will's being guided by the inner Spirit of wisdom and justice.
