Metaphysical meaning of Mecherathite (mbd)
Mecherathite, mech'-e-rath-ite (Heb.) --of the sword, piercing; opening up; wounding; machinations; evil devices; compressions; oppressions.

Hepher the Mecherathite was one of David's mighty men (I Chron. 11:36). It is thought that the word should be Maachathite.

Meta. Hepher refers to the opening up of the consciousness to a recognition and realization of the great life forces of the organism, deep within the soul. Mecherathite symbolizes the power of the word, by which the consciousness of the individual is quickened to an understanding of Truth. (In Scriptural symbology a sword pertains to the word, either as a thought unexpressed or spoken. In Ephesians 6:17 we read of "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God," and in Psalms 57:4 the tongue is likened to a sharp sword. Again in Isaiah 49:2 we read, "And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword." In Mecherathite the word (sword) that quickens to an understanding of Truth evidently reveals error to be overcome also (evil devices, oppressions).
