Metaphysical meaning of Racal (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Racal (mbd)
Racal (A.V., Rachal), ra'-cal (Heb.) --going about; trade; traffic; trader; merchant; commerce.

A city of Judah. David sent a portion of the spoil to his friends in this city when he returned to Ziklag from destroying the Amalekites who had raided and burned Ziklag during his temporary absence from that place (I Sam. 30:29).

Meta. A thought center in the Judah, the praise-and-prayer or acquisitive, faculty in man, whose burden is one of commerce, an exchange of ideas of substance (trade, traffic, merchant, trader).

When kept on a high plane the acquisitive tendency in man is good. By its exercise man attracts to his consciousness great spiritual understanding and realization of spiritual substance, power, and the like; but when man lets the accumulative instinct function through the sense mind it takes the form of bartering and trading in outer goods, even to the acquiring of possessions by deceptive and dishonest means. It leads to the worship of money; and "the love of money," when allowed to rule the man, becomes "a root of all kinds of evil" (I Tim. 6:10).
