Metaphysical meaning of Ziz (mbd)
Ziz, ziz (Heb.)--reflecting light; emitting splendor; glowing; brilliant; a brightness; a burnished plate of gold, i. e., on the forehead of the high priest; a flower; a wing; a lock of hair.

It was by the "ascent of Ziz" that the Moabites and the Ammonites came up to battle against Jehoshaphat, king of Israel (II Chron. 20:16).

Meta. The "ascent of Ziz," by which the Moabites and the Ammonites came up against Jehoshaphat, king of Israel, to battle, signifies the reflected understanding of purely intellectual thought guided by sense reason (reflecting light, and so forth). The carnal in man lays great store by the intellect; only by true spiritual understanding can man rise above its errors and limitations.
