Metaphysical meaning of Aenon (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Aenon (mbd)
Aenon, 2'-non (Gk.)--springs; (natural) fountains.

A place where John the Baptist was baptizing, "because there was much water there" (John 3:23).

Meta. John the Baptist represents the intellectual concept of Truth. His baptism symbolizes a mental cleansing through the word of denial. Water represents cleansing. A spring of water refers to a natural rising, in consciousness, of the cleansing, life-giving power of the thought and word of purification and life. Ænon was near Salim (peace), and so represents a purifying phase of thought that, while seemingly belonging to the natural, or outer, intellectual man, is closely associated with spiritual life and peace.
