Metaphysical meaning of Attalia (mbd)
Attalia, at-ta-h'-å (Gk.)--that increases.
A seaport town in Pamphylia (Acts 14:25).
Meta. Pamphylia means mixture of nations and signifies mixed thoughts and states of consciousness. Attalia represents an aggregation of thoughts in the outer consciousness, on the border of the sea of mortal thought. This aggregation of thoughts pertains to increase, growth, enlargement, multiplication (that increases). Under the dominion of the carnal mind the increase is in materiality, sense, and their consequent limitations. But the going of Paul and Barnabas (the word of Truth, and inspiration) to Attalia denotes an increase of action in that which is spiritual.
