Hermas, her'-mas (Gk.)--the planet Mercury; swift messenger; guide of the soul; interpreter.
A Christian friend of Paul's at Rome, to whom Paul sent his regards in his Epistle to the Romans (Rom. 16:14).
Meta. The ability of the spiritually awakened intellect in man to comprehend, and especially to explain, Truth. (Paul here represents the word of Truth, while Rome represents the head, the region of the intellect and will.)
