Tartak tär'-tak (Heb. fr. Pers.)--hero of darkness; prince of darkness; deep of darkness.

A god of the Avvites in Samaria (II Kings 17:31).

Meta. A demoniac thought or condition of ignorance, error, limitation (hero of darkness, prince of darkness, deep of darkness) to which the carnal beliefs and activities that the Avvites signify in consciousness give their substance and homage (a god of the Avvites; see AVVIM; also NIBHAZ, who was another god of the Avvites, or Avvim).
