Metaphysical meaning of Thebez (mbd)
Thebez, the'-bez (Heb.)--shining; brightness; conspicuous; prominent; seen afar.

A city of Ephraim in Palestine, near Shechem, where Abimelech was killed (Judg. 9:50). Joab mentioned this place when instructing his messenger to tell David of the death of Uriah the Hittite (II Sam. 11:21).

Meta. The bright shining of the light of Truth into and through the will faculty in man (brightness, seen afar, a city of Ephraim, Ephraim representing the will faculty in individual consciousness). When the will accepts the Christ light and becomes subject to spiritual I AM, a great change takes place in the individual, a change that is clearly manifest to all (conspicuous, prominent). Then Abimelech, a phase of the unregenerate will, is killed--is denied rulership in the person whose will has become unified with the divine will and so no longer functions in personality, selfishness, and materiality.
